New Year’s Day Powerball Jackpot Expected to Approach $500 Million
CONCORD — With the Powerball jackpot continuing to grow, the New Hampshire Lottery is now projecting the New Year’s Day Powerball jackpot will rise to $483 million. The New Hampshire Lottery estimates the one-time cash payout will increase to $347.7 million in Saturday’s drawing. (Estimated jackpot amounts are determined before taxes are withheld.)
“With the Powerball jackpot nearing the half-a-billion-dollar mark, this is the ultimate opportunity for a lucky New Hampshire player to become the first multimillionaire of 2022,” said Charlie McIntyre, Executive Director, New Hampshire Lottery. “Get your tickets now for a chance to win. We are all hoping to toast a New Hampshire winner come New Year’s Day!”
Powerball drawing results from Wednesday, December 29, were: 2-6-9-33-39 PB-11 with a Power Play of 2.
The Powerball jackpot has been growing since October 4, when a winning $699.8 million ticket was sold in California. There have been 37 straight drawings without a winner.
“Now with three drawings per week and multiple big jackpots already this year, Powerball continues to drive increased sales, as New Hampshire Powerball sales are outpacing last year by more than 70%,” McIntyre continued. “This $483 million jackpot is only going to support continued sales growth as we head into the New Year."
The Powerball jackpot reached $1.586 million in January 2016, marking not only the largest Powerball jackpot on record but also the largest lottery jackpot in history. The jackpot was split between three winners in Florida, California and Tennessee.
Powerball drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 PM.
Tickets are on sale at more than 1,200 retailers statewide, and online at NH iLottery. For more information and to play, visit www.nhlottery.com.
