LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The statewide gaming win in February surged in conjunction with the first Super Bowl in Las Vegas, according to new figures from Nevada officials.
Nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a win revenue of $1.34 billion for the month, per the Nevada Gaming Control Board. That's up 8.5% compared to February last year.
That figure is also up from January when the gaming win was $1.28 billion, but it falls just shy of the monthly record of $1.43 billion posted this past December.
On the Las Vegas Strip, casinos reported an $800.7 million gaming win, up 12.4% from the year-ago month.
Nevada ultimately collected $70.5 million in percentage fees based on the taxable revenue generated in February.
Last month brought the first-ever NFL championship to the state, Super Bowl LVIII featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
The big game and associated events were expected to be a major tourism draw. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is expected to release its visitor volume report later Thursday.
