National Lottery ticket sales drop by £283million as players tighten their belts
Camelot's outgoing UK National Lottery operator reveals falling sales because players have 'tightened their belts' amid the cost of living crisis.
Camelot lost £283 million in National Lottery ticket sales due to cost-of-living crisis. The company made £8.1 billion in the last year up to March 31. There were fewer rollover jackpots and fewer large EuroMillions rollovers. Online sales fell by £93 million to £3.4 billion since the end of Covid restrictions. Retailers account for nearly 60% of all sales. £1.9 billion was generated for good causes in 2021/22.
