Here’s something many players are familiar with: that heart-racing moment when you’re hitting all the right symbols until the last moment, narrowly missing a millionaire-making jackpot.

This is something that was recently experienced by a Keystone State resident who bought a ticket for the Mega Millions lottery and was well on the road to a $363 million jackpot - until at the very last moment he missed the mega ball.

Luckily, the story isn’t as heart-breaking as it sounds, with the player matching five numbers and walking away with a cool $3 million.

38,000 Winning Tickets Came from Pennsylvania

The new millionaire wasn’t the only player who got lucky with their Mega Millions numbers that same week. Yahoo News reported that a total of 38,000 other winning tickets hailed from the Keystone State, with their holders winning prizes ranging from as low as $2 and going all the way up to $1,500.

Scoring the full jackpot in Mega Millions is touch, with odds coming in at 1 in 302,575,350. To win the big prize, a player must not only match all the five white balls, but also the gold Mega Ball. Drawings are held twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the lottery is available in 44 other states besides Pennsylvania, as well as Washington, D.C. and the Virgin Islands.

Meanwhile, players wanting to try their luck at online jackpot will find plenty to keep them busy at PA online casinos, with plenty of games giving out large jackpot wins that run into thousands of dollars every month.
