Mega Millions: Jackpot at $400 million for Tuesday night drawing

The Mega Millions jackpot is at $400 million as of Tuesday, Dec. 13, and has rolled over 17 times since the last time the jackpot was hit, according to the Massachusetts State Lottery.
The cash value of the $400 million lottery jackpot prize is $216.2 million. The drawing is set for Tuesday night at 11 p.m., and can be viewed live on the Mega Millions website as the numbers are drawn, or on the Mega Millions YouTube page.
The jackpot had been valued at $494 million the last time it was hit on Oct. 14, and there were two winning tickets sold — one in California, and one in Florida.
Friday’s drawing’s winning numbers were 8, 19, 53, 61, 69 and Mega Ball: 19. Though there were no jackpot winners, there were two $1 million winners who matched all five of the first numbers on their tickets, but did not match the Mega Ball. Those winning tickets were sold in California and Pennsylvania.
To play Mega Millions, lottery players must choose five numbers ranging one through 70, and one Mega Ball number ranging one through 25 for their $2 ticket. Players can also purchase a Quick Pick ticket with computer-chosen numbers. There are a total of nine ways to win Mega Millions with varying prize amounts, and the overall chance of winning any prize is one in 24.
If a jackpot winner chooses the annuity option, the $400 million prize would be paid out as one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments. Each payment is 5% bigger than the previous one, the Mega Millions site said. Should they choose the cash option, the winner would receive a one-time, lump-sum payment — in this instance, it would be $216.2 million.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, as part of its “Holiday Word$ Contest,” any Mega Millions or other draw ticket game, including Keno, purchased until the end of the day on Tuesday will have a “daily keyword” to submit online for a chance to win $7,500.
Tickets for Tuesday’s $400 million Mega Millions drawing can be purchased up until 10:45 p.m., and drawings for Mega Millions take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
