Mega Millions jackpot at $910 million; here’s how to enter the Friday drawing
Following last week’s massive $1 billion Powerball jackpot, the game’s prize dropped (it now sits at a respectable $41 million).
Michigan Lottery players eager to try for a huge prize still have hope, because the Mega Millions jackpot is at $910 million. The next drawing is Friday, July 28 at 11 p.m. ET. You can buy tickets up to 15 minutes before the drawing.

Signing up for the Michigan Lottery as a new player earns you a great welcome bonus.
To claim it, first, click our link, then select “register.” Submit the personal details required to create an account. When prompted, enter the bonus code MLIVE. This will get you a 50% deposit bonus worth up to $100.
In other words, the Michigan Lottery will match half of your first (and only your first) deposit up to a $100 total. Depositing the following amounts would get you the corresponding bonus:
- $50 deposit: $25 match
- $100 deposit: $50 match
- $200 deposit: $100 match
- $250 deposit: $100 match
As you can see, any deposit over $200 will still get you the $100 match, because that’s the maximum amount you can get.
The drawing earlier this week was for $820 million. Had somebody won, it would have been the fifth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
However, nobody won the jackpot. The numbers were 29, 40, 47, 50, 57 (white balls), and 25 for the Mega Ball. This Friday’s drawing will be the 29th in a row without a winner. The previous winner hit the jackpot on April 18 in New York.
In its entire run, the Mega Millions jackpot has awarded $1 billion or more exactly four times. The latest drawing above that milestone was hit on July 29, 2022.
The top five Mega Millions jackpots ever awarded are outlined below.
In Michigan, you can play Mega Millions in two ways.
The first is through the online lottery. Online lottery games are legal thanks to a law passed a few years back that authorized many forms of online gambling in Michigan.
Signing up for an account with our link and the promo code MLIVE gets you a 50% deposit match of up to $100. Retail sellers don’t offer this bonus.
Buying lottery tickets online has many advantages, including the ability to use features like Easy Pick or Combo My Numbers, both of which allow you to buy multiple tickets at once.
You can also purchase entries at one of the hundreds of participating Michigan Lottery retailers. Grocery stores and gas stations are your best bet. You get a play slip from the vendor and fill it out with your numbers. You return the slip to the cashier who then prints your ticket.
The Mega Millions game is available in 45 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. The only states that don’t sell Mega Millions entries are:
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Hawaii
- Nevada
- Utah
This makes the Mega Millions draw game accessible to most US residents. However, many states require retail purchases. Michigan is one of only a few states that offer online lottery purchases.
Mega Millions jackpots are paid out as either a lump-sum cash payment or a 30-year annuity that increases over time.
The lump-sum payment is significantly less than the advertised jackpot amount. For a $910 million jackpot, the estimated lump sum is approximately $460 million.
The annuity pays out the advertised amount gradually over the years.
Both methods are pre-tax, so winners need to fork up some of their winnings to the IRS.
The jury’s out on which method is better. It comes down to personal preference. In my humble opinion, the lump sum is the way to go. You never know what’ll happen in the next 30 years; enjoy the lump sum payment and live it up!
