A Macomb County resident admits he “shed some tears” after learning he had won $1.05 million through a lottery scratch-off ticket he bought earlier this month at a local convenience store, the Michigan Lottery said Tuesday.

According to Michigan Lottery, the 34-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased a Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket May 7 at the Cass Market and Liquor, 278 Cass Avenue in Mount Clemens.

The player said he was at the Lottery machine trying to make up his mind on which game to buy and finally settled on Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash.

“I didn’t know there was a $20 Fast Cash ticket until then, so I decided to give it a try,” he said.

He said he scanned the ticket without looking it over and received a message to check with the retailer. He handed it over to the person behind the counter, who looked it over and told him he had won the jackpot plus $250,000.

“I’m not going to lie, I definitely shed some tears,” the player said.

The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. With his winnings, he plans to take care of his kids and invest.

Fast Cash games are a series of instant-win games that print from terminals at Lottery retailers. Fast Cash tickets range in price from $2 per play up to $20 per play.
