Las Vegas Sands Sues Seminole-Related Groups in Florida
Seminole-related groups are sabotaging petition drive in support of gambling expansion in Florida.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. is suing parties acting on behalf of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Sands claims the Tribe is interfering with its efforts to get a gambling expansion measure on the state's 2022 ballot. The measure would allow card rooms to become full-fledged casinos.
Ginger Donat offered $2,000 to a private investigator working for Human Connections to work for the Seminoles. She also offered the investigator $500 if he defected to the other side. The Tribe offered signature gatherers as much as $7,00 to leave the state and not do the work.
The money was funneled through Cornerstone Solutions, which also targeted people collecting signatures for another ballot measure supported by FanDuel and DraftKings. The boss of Cornerstones’ Maitland office was Mark Jacoby, who fudged his address in 2009. Jacobi has been running a fake petition drive that the Seminoles‘ opponents say is used to trick people into thinking they have signed one of the two legit petitions circulating in Florida.
