LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Loop has reached the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, according to a post on X Friday afternoon by the Boring Company, founded by Elon Musk.

The progress is the latest update on the underground construction to expand transportation from the Las Vegas Convention Center, which was the original scope of the Las Vegas Loop project. Since then, the loop has established service under the Strip to Resorts World and completed tunnels to Westgate Las Vegas and Wynn Las Vegas. Resorts World is the only place a station for passengers has opened so far.

Video showing the tunnel-digging machine emerging at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas takes the tunnel to its farthest distance from the convention center, just over 1½ miles south on Paradise Road. The hotel is at Paradise Road and Harmon Avenue. The route that the tunnel follows was not disclosed.

The initial post said, “Prufrock subtly emerging beneath @VirginHotelsLV Thanks for being a great partner – excited to open your Vegas Loop station!” Prufrock is the name of one of the company’s boring machines.

Musk reposted it, commenting, “The Boring Company connects another hotel in Vegas! Within a few years, you will be able to get to all major destinations in the city super fast with electric cars in tunnels. No need to imagine, you can try it today between Resorts World and the Convention Center!”

The Las Vegas Loop will eventually run along both sides of the Strip, and extend north to downtown Las Vegas. To the south, it will extend to the UNLV campus. The Virgin location is already close to the proposed site of a station at UNLV. The loop will also extend west of the Strip, passing under Interstate 15 to reach Allegiant Stadium, as well as the Las Vegas Medical District around UMC and Valley hospitals.
