Las Vegas Hotel Room Prices Skyrocket as Sin City Hosts Super Bowl for First Time
Snagging a hotel room in Las Vegas ahead of Super Bowl 58 could cost as much as $2,500 per night, according to a new study of rates in Sin City.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal surveyed hotel room rates from 138 hotels in Las Vegas during the two days leading up to the NFL championship game scheduled for Feb. 11, a Sunday. A hotel room — before taxes and fees — will cost an average of around $444 per night, according to the Review-Journal.
The average cost for hotels on the Las Vegas Strip jumps to more than $856 per night, according to the publication. Several hotels and resorts have already sold out, while others require two- or three-night stays to accept a booking. The game will be played in Allegiant Stadium in nearby Paradise, Nevada. It is the home field of the Las Vegas Raiders, which relocated there from Oakland in 2020.
The Super Bowl has pushed average room rates there above those during other major events.
New Year's Eve pushed nightly rates to $261 while stays during the National Finals Rodeo peaked at $399, the Review-Journal reported. Rates during Formula 1 in November — according to a survey of just 47 resorts — averaged at about $593.
“With the game being here for the first time, it will be the mecca of American football whether you are or are not attending the game,” Brendan Bussmann, a gaming industry analyst at B Global, told The Review-Journal. “Room rates clearly reflect the interest for those coming to the game or those that have always come here to enjoy the game regardless of the location.”
Just 10 resorts surveyed by the Review-Journal charge more than $1,000 per night, although at least two — The Venetian and Palazzo — offered rooms for $999 per night.
Wynn and Encore Las Vegas offer rooms with a base price of $2,500 a night, while Caesars Palace — an official partner and sponsor of the NFL — charges $2,499 per night. The next-most expensive resort is MGM Grand's Signature Suites, with a nightly charge of $1,900.
Although none of the hotels and motels in Las Vegas offer rates less than $100 per night, there are some options within driving distance.
Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino in nearby Primm, Nev., offers rooms at $62 each night. The Saddle West Hotel Casino RV Resort and Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Casino, about an hour's drive from Las Vegas, also offer rooms for less than $100 per night.
