Jake Paul's Betr Announces Imminent Casino Expansion in Pennsylvania
Betr, the sports-betting app co-founded by social media sensation and professional boxer Jake Paul, has announced its intention to venture into the online casino market in Pennsylvania.
The expansion comes as Betr seeks to capitalize on the rapid expansion of gambling revenue in the Keystone State, which reached a record $5.7 billion in 2023.
With a burgeoning reputation in the sports betting industry, Betr will aim to translate this success into its online casino product, leveraging the ever-growing profile of its controversial co-founder, Paul.
Paul, 27, enjoyed a mammoth 2023, fighting three times and losing narrowly to fellow influencer-cum-boxer Tommy Fury in one of the largest boxing pay-per-view events of the year.
Now, the serial entrepreneur's attention will turn partly to his Betr brand, which also announced sportsbook expansions in Colorado and Kentucky (alongside its sportsbook and casino expansion in Pennsylvania).
Betr Casino to Launch in Pennsylvania
The new Betr Casino will enter the Pennsylvania gaming market through a market access partnership with the renowned Cordish Gaming Group.
The Cordish Gaming Group, which describes itself as 'creating high-profile, one-of-a-kind destinations,' is the development team behind some of America's biggest land casinos, including the Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in Hollywood & Tampa and the Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland.
The collaboration with Betr will involve the utilization of the Live! Casino arm of the Cordish Gaming Group's casino product as the foundation for an innovative new online casino platform.
President of the Cordish Gaming Group, Rob Norton, said, "We are very excited to partner with Betr on the launch of their first online casino."
"Betr Casino will make a winning addition to the gaming options available to Pennsylvania players, which includes two of our own successful Live! Casino properties."
Furthermore, it appears that the expansion into Pennsylvania may be just the beginning, as Betr believes it now has the "playbook" for expansion into additional states in 2024 and beyond.
Joey Levy, Founder and CEO of Betr, added to Norton's comments, saying, "We are thrilled to announce our new market access partnerships for Sportsbook and the introduction of Betr Casino in 2024 ahead of our V1 Sportsbook launch."
"The data we are seeing not only suggests that we are building a large and highly profitable real-money gaming and media business but that we are doing so by bringing new users into the category. We plan on replicating this playbook for Betr Sportsbook and Betr Casino after releasing V1 of our Sportsbook later this year."
The new states we have acquired market access in will offer Betr the opportunity to reach over 17% of the U.S. adult population by the end of this year. - Joey Levy, CEO of Betr
"The new states we have acquired market access in will offer Betr the opportunity to reach over 17% of the U.S. adult population by the end of this year."
Whether or not Betr and Betr Casino can stand out in an increasingly crowded marketplace remains to be seen. However, what's for sure is that it marks a further vote of confidence in Pennsylvania's booming online gambling landscape, which shows no signs of slowing in the coming year.
