How To Get More Custom Design Slots
The latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to get more custom design slots and access to the design terminal from Nook Phones.
A new update has arrived for Animal Crossing: New Horizons which now allows players to spend Nook Miles on extra custom design slots. Also available is the ability to access the custom design terminal found in the Able Sisters’ shop through a Nook Phone app.
This highly requested design slot expansion feature comes just around the time Animal Crossing: New Horizons reaches its first anniversary. This update will also allow players to get few extra gifts over the coming months, including a cake, whoopee cushions, and prom items.
To get the extra custom design slots, players will need at least 2,300 Nook Miles and access to the Nook Stop terminal in the Resident Services building. Firstly, players need to head into Resident Services and access the Nook Stop terminal.
Players should choose the “Redeem Nook Miles” option at the terminal and scroll down to find the “Custom Design Pro Editor+” upgrade, which is available for 2,000 Nook Miles and adds 50 custom design slots and 50 pro design slots to the custom designs app.
The “Custom Designs Portal” upgrade, which costs just 300 Nook Miles, also allows players to access the custom design terminal found in Able Sisters through their Nook Phones. Players should know that a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and an internet connection is required to access the terminal, and therefore the app.
Purchasing both upgrades will instantly apply them by updating the player’s Nook Phone. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can back out of the Nook Stop terminal and pull out their Nook Phone to access the custom designs app where they will notice a lot more rows of design slots have been added to each page. To access the custom design terminal, players just need to press X while on the custom designs app.
When editing a pro design, players can now make custom designs for umbrellas, uchiwa fans, small flags, and face-cutout posters. To make designs for these items, players need to choose a slot to edit and then press R three times to get to the Variety Goods section.
Along with this update, Nintendo recently revealed some other new features coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, including the Sanrio collaboration and a new time-limited island tour app that allows players to use photos and videos to show off their homes. Players that use the NookLink service in the Nintendo Switch Online app will soon be able to earn Nook Points for regularly logging in to get exclusive rewards.
Now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is almost a year old, many players may have already completed their Critterpedia entries and museum exhibits. For those that have not, there are plenty of new creatures to catch in March for both Northern and Southern Hemisphere players.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
