Holland Casino secures Eredivisie betting deal in advance of deregulated Dutch market
August 9 – With the Dutch set to open up online gambling in the country from October 1, the state-run betting and gaming business Holland Casino has signed a deal four-year sponsorship deal with the top tier Eredivisie, second tier Keuken Kampioen Division and its broadcast partner ESPN.
Holland Casino will promote its new online sports betting and casino games but will also emphasise the importance of gambling safely. “Safe and responsible gaming and Fair Play are always paramount in all this offer,” said Holland Casino.
This isn’t the first time the gaming operator has been associated with football having been the naming rights sponsor from 2002 to 2005 with the Holland Casino Eredivisie.
Director of Holland Casino Erwin van Lambaart said of the return to football sponsorship: “The value of this collaboration is not only great for all parties directly involved, but also in the interest of the Dutch public and all professional football clubs.”
“This partnership with Dutch football will help us in the coming years to gain a new impetus in the future. The plan is sound, realistic and sound. We are convinced that this will pay off on several fronts.”
The sponsorship will begin with the 2021-22 season, with sides committing to work on a range of initiatives aimed at encouraging safer gambling in the country
Jan de Jong, director of the Eredivisie CV, said: “The Eredivisie has consciously chosen a Dutch party, Holland Casino, an A-brand. Moreover, the Eredivisie and Holland Casino share a rich, successful and beautiful history with each other.”
