Golden Gate Hotel & Casino celebrates 118th birthday with proclamation

Las Vegas (KSNV) — The oldest hotel in downtown Las Vegas, The Golden Gate, is celebrating its 118th birthday on January 18.
The Golden Gate has been around for much of our city's history, from the legalization of gambling to the first paving of Fremont Street, and more.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman commemorated the big milestone on Thursday by holding a proclamation ceremony recognizing the day as "Golden Gate Day." CEO Derek Stevens was also in attendance during the event.
The hotel made its debut in 1906 on 1 Fremont Street as 'Hotel Nevada' before its name was changed to The Golden Gate.
