Georgia PM calls for the prohibition of online casino
Georgia's PM Gharibashvili instructed the government to adopt a two-phase approach to reform Georgia's gambling laws. The first phase will impose a significant increase on online casino taxes, prohibit online casinos advertising and increase the minimum eligible age of play for gambling to +25 years. Phase-2 will further adopt new measures to ‘prohibit online gambling operations’
Irakli Gharibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, has instructed the government to adopt a strict approach to reform Georgia's gambling laws. The first phase of changes will impose a significant increase on online casino taxes, prohibit online casinos advertising and increase the minimum eligible age of play for gambling to +25 years. Phase 2 will further adopt new measures to prohibit the online gambling operations. Flutter Entertainment invested €100 million to acquire a 51% stake in Georgian online gaming operator Adjarabet in 2019.
