Foxwoods’ new $85 million casino project will create “vibrant hub”, CEO says
Foxwoods Resort Casino is planning to add a sixth gaming space. The new space will be located in Grand Pequot, the busiest section of the property. Foxwoods will reduce the number of slot machines in some of its casinos to meet demand. In mid-July, Foxwood's opened a new, 2,200-seat High Stakes Bingo Hall. The 75,000-square-foot Rainmaker Expo Center is scheduled to open in mid November. Construction on the new gaming area will begin then. It will have around 500 slots, 175 high-limit machines and 24 table games.
Foxwoods is looking for new employees. The casino is struggling to fill positions left open after the COVID-19 pandemic. It has upped its employee benefits and pay rates to lure workers. Great Wolf Lodge at Mashantucket is expected to be built on reservation land adjacent to Foxwoods and could generate 600 to 700 jobs. GreatWolf Resorts is also expected break ground for the water park resort this fall and open it in 2024.
