Flutter Buys Italian Online Gambling Giant Sisal for $2.2bn
Flutter confirms its acquisition of Sisal, an Italian gambling operator with sportsbook and the SuperEnalotto lottery.
Flutter Entertainment announced its £1.62bn ($2.2bn) takeover of Italian online gambling giant Sisal this week.
Flutter confirms the buyout from CVC Capital Partners Fund VI. The deal is expected to close in Q2 2021. Flutter will buy Sisal portfolio, including sportsbook Totalcalcio, gaming totalizer Totip and an entry into the lottery market via SuperEnalotto.
Flutter bought Italian online gambling giant Sisal for $2.2bn. Italy banned gambling advertising in 2018, but the media can report on odds of winning a game and jackpot odds.
Flutter bought Tombola for $543m in November. UK-based brand Sky Betting and Gaming made a marketing blunder by offering free spins to self-excluded gamblers via its Sky Vegas online casino brand. Flutter is wrapping up 2021 on a positive note, saying the Sisal deal has landed it a leading omnichannel asset at a compelling valuation.
