Elements Casino Chilliwack Helps Out Numerous Charities
Last week, Elements Casino Chilliwack made its largest contribution to charities since its opening. The gaming amenity handed a CA$802,832 cheque to the Knight Road Legacy Association on April 11, 2023. The money will be now split between 47 charities and non-profit organizations, most of them based in the Chilliwack region in B.C.
Located at 8180 Young Road, Chilliwack, V2P 4N9, Elements Casino Chilliwack is one of Great Canadian Entertainment’s many properties across Canada. The gaming hotspot is the home of over 300 slot machines and 6 live table games. On top of this, it also offers exciting live entertainment, as well as casual pub fare to its many guests.
Largest Cheque to Date
On April 1, 2023, the casino presented its cheque worth just over CA$800,000 to the Knight Road Legacy Association. This is the largest donation the casino has made to charity since its opening. The hefty sum will be split between 47 charities and non-profits in the area. The money has been aggregated via slot machine revenue at the casino property.
Shawn Duncan, regional vice president, operations at Great Canadian Entertainment commented that the operator is pleased to make this donation to the Knight Road Legacy Association which comes on the back of the casino’s 2022 performance. In his words, the CA$800k donation will be able to assist numerous charities while also benefiting dozens of local residents.
He said that the unprecedented situation of 2020 had a massive impact on the industry, which is why the operator is pleased to be able to provide a premium patron experience in the casino. This helps the company offer much-needed funding that will have a huge positive impact on charities and non-profits, while also supporting their important work for communities.
The casino’s contribution comes through a 20-year revenue-sharing agreement from 2012. The contract states that the King Road Legacy Association will continue to receive a portion of the slot machine revenue from the CGE’s casino for the next 10 years. It should be mentioned that the organization was the previous owner and operator of Chilliwack Bingo.
As already noted, the unprecedented situation affected the casino’s operations and its ability to contribute funds to local charities. After a slight pause, in July 2022, the casino renewed its payments to the KRLA. However, the payment was significantly lower at CA$192,560. This was due to the fact that the casino remained closed down for a while in 2021.
Embracing its New Identity
Great Canadian Entertainment was previously known as Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, but the major land-based operator officially rebranded in August 2022. The branding arrived at the right time, as the casino operator wanted to enhance its presence in the online and in-person sectors. It aims to introduce a new industry standard. For the occasion, the company also reworked its official website.
