North of 1,000 foreigners of different nationalities have already been held by the police under suspicion of online gambling, breaching immigration laws, human trafficking, and prostitution.
550 illegal immigrants were arrested in Cambodia and 40 in Thailand in the last days of September. Thailand's Crime Suppression Division carried out more than fifty raids across ten provinces, seizing assets worth millions of dollars. More than 2.5 thousand gambling websites have been shut down in Thai in last 12 months. In Cambodia, 154 people were also arrested for links to illegal gambling. The government's actions are aimed at restoring order and living conditions and improving the country's international image. Human trafficking and money laundering are also a problem in Cambodian crime scene.
