Caesars releases updated plans for new casino in Columbus
A new casino and sportsbook coming to Columbus is starting to take shape.
The Harrah's casino, planned for construction on U.S. 81 northwest of Columbus, will be operated by Caesars Entertainment – the largest casino operator in the country.
It will be Caesars first location in Nebraska.
Caesars unveiled new plans for the facility that are a little smaller in scale than first thought, but will still feature 500 slot machines and 14 table games, according to a press release.
“We’re pleased to bring a brand-new destination to the great state of Nebraska,” said Todd Connelly, Regional President at Caesars Entertainment. “This is a huge milestone for the company, and we’ve been working hard to bring it to life.”
The casino will also include a horse track, a sportsbook, a restaurant, and two hotels.
The horse track is expected to be the longest in the state when completed.
“Horse Racing has been ingrained in the history of Columbus for decades. We’re thrilled to contribute to that history and bring an all-new, one-mile racetrack for the community to enjoy,” said Joe Morris, SVP of Racing at Caesars Entertainment. “Caesars Entertainment is committed to bringing the best offerings for guests of the casino and fans of racing in the area and we look forward to welcoming Columbus to the track once it’s complete.”
Completion of the entire project is expected in early 2024. However, a temporary location with 200 slot machines will open in late Spring at Ag Park in Columbus.
