Kim Shing Leung was fired from Grand Villa Casino Burnaby for stealing chips to help his cancer-ridden brother's medical bills. He pleaded guilty to one count of theft under CA$5,000 and received a reduced sentence.

Mr. Leung stole CA$5,000 from gaming tables to help his brother who had cancer. He was sentenced to pay back CA $2,500 and write an apology letter. The judge noted that he committed a serious offence, but opted for leniency as Mr.Leung did not have other criminal records and has put efforts towards rehabilitation. Mr Leeng lost his job and is having trouble finding work.
