Bally’s Is Winning Bidder for Chicago's First Casino License
Bally's Corporation is the winning bidder for the first-ever Chicago casino license. The city hopes the new casino will generate annual tax revenue of about $200m. Bally’s Corporation will build the casino on the site of the Tribune Publishing Center in River West.
Bally's Corporation is the owner and operator of 14 casinos across ten states. The Chicago casino will be its flagship property. Some residents are opposed to the project. The temporary casino is expected to open next year and the permanent casino in early 2026.
Bally's Corporation has been awarded a casino license in Chicago. Mayor Lightfoot is confident that the casino will shore up the city's pension funds and create thousands of good-paying jobs. Bally’s Corporation chairman Soo Kim welcomes the news of the successful bid. The company has already entered a labor peace agreement with the Chicago Federation of Labor.
