Auto-play admonition in the Netherlands
The gaming regulator for the Netherlands ordered an online casino to remove auto-play functionalities from its selection of video slots. The regulator was concerned that the casino's portfolio featured at least three video slot games where aficionados were allowed to purchase multiple spins that were systematically expended automatically once play kicked off.
The operator has escaped a fine of €300,000 after removing all of its video slots with automatic play functionalities. The Netherlands launched a regulated iGaming market in October.
The Kansspelautoriteit investigated 158 unlicensed iGaming sites and found that 142 had implemented procedures to keep Dutch players away from their services.
Some of the outstanding 16 probed domains were already off the air for the Netherlands after an order subject to penalty was announced. Jansen claims it was the intention of a new law and will help the country's embryonic iGaming industry.
Jansen's organization is processing 30 local iGaming licence applications. The number is probably due to the end of the leniency period in the context of Postema parliamentary motion.
