Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:
- Las Vegas police arrested a woman for stealing over $100,000 in cash, casino chips, and more from a Las Vegas Strip hotel room. Officers responded to the theft report at Caesars Palace on Jan. 25. Taelar Durbin and her friend offered a witness a neck massage for $100, so he took them to his friends' hotel room to "put their breasts in the friends' faces." However, once they got to the room, the friends were asleep, so the witness went back to the casino floor – leaving the women. Durbin stole a Rolex Submariner watch valued at $39,000, a gold chain valued at $15,000, $12,000 in cash, and $52,000 in casino chips. (News3LV)
- City council members unanimously approved the "Vision Zero Action Plan," a new initiative to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries on the road by 2050. The plan is a partnership between the Las Vegas government, police, and school system to improve roads and educate on safety. The city now sees one fatality and about three serious injuries per week. - The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada's Center for Transplantation was ranked the top kidney transplant program in the country. According to data from the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, the hospital outperformed 256 other nationwide programs to earn the No. 1 spot for its one-year kidney survival rate and offer patients the shortest wait for a transplant.
