Pedestrian critically injured after crash near Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Las Vegas police responded to a serious crash between a vehicle and person near East Tropicana and Ocean Drive right in front of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino Tuesday night.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said the crash happened around 6:40 p.m. June 28. LVMPD said a man was darting across eastbound lanes on Tropicana outside a marked crosswalk. A white Ford Expedition slowed to avoid hitting the man and a white Ford E150 was following behind and rear-ended the Expedition, causing it to hit the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the E150 was also taken to UMC for injuries.

Eastbound traffic on Tropicana was closed from Las Vegas Boulevard to Koval. Police asked the public to avoid the area.

The crash remains under investigation by LVMPD.
