Wind Creek Bethlehem casino continues to lead the way when it comes to hiring Hispanic and Asian employees.

The casino, however, has fewer Black casino employees than the state average, according to the Pennsylvania gaming control board’s annual diversity report.

The report, released Friday, covers fiscal year 2021-22 that ended June 30.

Wind Creek’s numbers have stayed consistent over the last four years. The report says its employees for fiscal year 2021-22 were:

  • 53% white
  • 7% Black
  • 17% Hispanic
  • 20% Asian
  • 3% other.

The statewide average is:

  • 61% white
  • 15% Black
  • 7% Hispanic
  • 13% Asian
  • 4% other

The state logs these statistics to assure casinos hire employees with diverse ethnicities, according to the annual report.

“The (gaming control board) remains committed to monitoring the activities of the Commonwealth’s licensed casinos in promoting diversity,” said board Director of Diversity Mozelle E. Daniels.

The gaming board’s annual report released in July says Wind Creek Bethlehem raked in more table games revenue last fiscal year than any other casino in Pennsylvania.

The casino took in a whopping $236 million from table games for fiscal year 2021-22, according to the annual report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board released on Sept. 28.

That figure represents about a quarter of the combined total of all table games revenue in Pennsylvania for the fiscal year.

Two new casinos opened last year in Pennsylvania, bringing the statewide total to 16, according to gaming board Executive Director Kevin O’Toole.

“The continued growth in the Pennsylvania gaming sector also propelled tax revenue to new heights breaking the $2 billion barrier for the first time,” O’Toole said in the annual report.

  • Wind Creek generated $279 million in slots revenue last fiscal year, second only to Parx Casino in Bensalem.
  • The casino generated $141 million in tax revenue from slots proceeds and $38 million in tax revenue from table games, the report says.

The Wind Creek Bethlehem casino at 77 Wind Creek Blvd. opened in 2009 at the former Bethlehem Steel site. Wind Creek purchased the casino from Las Vegas Sands in 2019.
