Westminster City Council wants to build a high-rise casino close to Leicester Square. The government had previously proposed to allow mega casinos in major cities, but they pulled back in late 2004. East London's Olympic Park and Milton Keynes's casino were opened in 2011 and 2012 respectively. The plans came to light in October 2021.

Leicester is a well-connected city. Greggs opened its new store in the area on 18 July this year. It was a fun way to put the food store on the map.
