Wife 'killer' Arthur Guty arrested at Vegas casino with $100k cash after 'telling neighbor he'd kill' murdered partner
A SUSPECT reportedly made a chilling statement about killing his wife before he was arrested for her murder.
Arthur Guty, 55, was arrested at a Las Vegas, Nevada casino days after police discovered his wife Nicole Zambrano's body in their Pennsylvania home.
Zambrano, 26, disappeared last week, and a search was launched for her after she failed to show up to work for several days, according to police in Uniontown, about 45 minutes southeast of Pittsburgh.
Throughout the search, Guty told detectives he didn't know where she was while he drove across the county, Uniontown Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik told ABC affiliate WTAE.
He didn't share much about her whereabouts, and everything he did tell police allegedly "wasn't accurate," according to Kolencik.
On Friday, police investigated their home, and they discovered Zambrano's body with a single gunshot wound.
It's unclear when she died, but detectives said it appeared she had been dead for a couple of days.
Investigators then worked with a cell phone provider to start tracking Guty's location and discovered him at the Mardi Gras Casino in Las Vegas.
On Tuesday morning, he was arrested while eating a continental breakfast.
Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said he was holding $100,000 in cash at the time of his arrest, and believes he was trying to flee the country.
After Zambrano's body was found, some neighbors shared their shock at the situation, saying the couple appeared to be happy.
Carlos Ramirez remembered Zambrano as a sunny, hard worker who was trying to make a better life for her mother in Venezuela.
“It was me who got them together. I introduced Art to her. That’s what hurts me a lot,” he told the local outlet.
But another neighbor who had known Guty for over a year shared a different side of their relationship.
Bob Luick considered Guty his friend and said he was a good neighbor, but noticed there was a jealous side when it came to his wife.
Luick said he couldn't believe the suspect was capable of murder, but said: "He made a statement maybe a month ago that he thought she was messing around on him," NBC affiliate WPXI reported.
"And this is exactly the way he said it. He said: 'If I find out she's messing around, I'll kill her.'"
Luick told local outlets that he tried to get in touch with Guty while police were looking for his then-missing wife.
The neighbor hadn't seen him since the day before Christmas and asked him about his wife when they connected on a phone call.
"He said, 'I'm in Kansas, and we are going up to the Grand Canyon,'" Luick told WTAE, stressing the fact that Guty said "we."

After news broke of Guty's wife's disappearance, it was revealed that he was once the victim of an alleged murder-for-hire scheme at the hands of his ex-wife, according to court documents.
His then-wife Roxanne Guty was arrested on suspicion of hiring a hitman to kill him in 2019.
Prosecutors said at the time that she allegedly asked a potential killer: "What kind of gun would do the job?" CBS News reported.
Norman Pennington, the man whom she spoke with, told a court that he initially thought she was kidding and only discussed the murder plot to let off steam.
But once she allegedly drafted a plan for the two of them to split his insurance money, he went to the police.
Roxanne was convicted on lesser charges in February 2021 and investigators do not believe the incident is related to Zambrano's death.
They divorced in 2019, and Guty married Zambrano a couple of years later, according to local reports.
Guty has been charged with criminal homicide and aggravated assault.
He is being extradited from Las Vegas back to Uniontown.
Despite their now-disturbing conversation, Luick is still in shock at the tragedy that took place just next door.
"Art, he was the nicest guy you'd want to meet," he told WPXI.
"I mean, it just shook me to death when I found out about it."
