Viva Pot Vegas: Las Vegas May Soon Have Consumption Lounges
Las Vegas has legalized buying marijuana but not consuming it. The city has advanced plans for cannabis consumption lounges.
Nevada legalized cannabis consumption lounges in 2021 but didn't have regulations for how they would operate. On June 28, the Cannabis Compliance Board voted unanimously to approve the rules. Current dispensary owners can apply for licenses to operate louks adjacent to their existing stores. Planet 13, a leading Las Vegas cannabis dispensary, plans to add a cannabis-consumption lounge to its entertainment complex. The state will issue 20 licenses for independent entrepreneurs. Half of those licenses will go to those who were negatively affected by previous marijuana laws. Loungs can't be within 1,000 feet of a school or within 300 feet from a community facility.
