Turkey Seizes $40M in Crypto From Illegal Gambling Ring
Turkey has dismantled an illegal gambling ring and seized $40m in cryptocurrency. 46 suspects were detained on Wednesday following raids across eight provinces. Halil Falyali was the prime suspect in the ring before he was shot dead.
Turkey seized $40M in cryptocurrency from illegal gambling ring. The investigation is linked to Falyali's murder. There are reports that another $95m worth of crypto could be out there.
Halil Falyali was a Turkish Cypriot businessman who owned the Les Ambassadeurs Hotel & Casino in Northern Cyprus. He was the focus of money laundering investigations. The base of the illegal betting ring was traced back to Cyprus, where there are tight gambling regulations.
