Texan Tilman Fertitta Building Las Vegas Casino
Tilman Fertitta has been approved to build a 43-story hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. A tattoo parlor and a motel are being demolished at the 6-acre site. The resort will have 2,420 rooms, a lounge for high rollers, convention space, wedding chapel and theater seating 2.500 people.
Tilman Fertitta owns the Golden Nugget and the Houston Rockets. He recently bought 6.9 million shares of Wynn Resorts stock. There is speculation that he will take control of the Las Vegas-based casino company.
Tilman Fertitta is expanding his Las Vegas casino in Nevada. Texas lawmakers are meeting on Jan. 10 for the start of the 2023 legislative session. The Legislature is expected to make another run at legalizing commercial casino gambling and sports betting in the state. Jim McIngvale, a high-profile Houston sports bettor, has wagered millions of dollars in several states, including next door in Louisiana, where gambling is legal. McIngev has collected about $75 million combined from different sportsbooks.
