Las Vegas Strip Could Soon See A New 43-Story Resort
This may come as a shock (not really), but the Las Vegas Strip could soon see a brand new 43-story resort and casino at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue.
According to an article posted by Eli Segall on ReviewJournal.com, billionaire Tilman Fertitta has filed plans with the Clark County Commission to build an upscale project on approximately 6 acres of land on the southeast corner of the Strip at Harmon. Clark County records show that plans include “restaurants, convention space, a spa, wedding chapel, auto showroom, and a theater with around 2,500 seats,” plus “suites, villas, VIP salons, and a bar and lounge for high-limit gamblers.”
65-year old Tilman Fertitta owns a whole bunch of stuff, including The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas, the NBA’s Houston Rockets basketball team, plus many other restaurants, hotels and business enterprises. According to Forbes Magazine, his net worth is estimated at $7.7 billion dollars. This proposed venture in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip would make him a real player on the Las Vegas casino scene.
But wait, there’s more! Fertitta’s property at Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue is just one major project in the works in that area. Per Segall’s article on ReviewJournal.com, New York investment firm Gindi Capital recently had plans approved by the Clark County Commission for a “new three-story retail complex just south of Fertitta’s property.”
Then, there is New York ‘s Flag Luxury Group, led by developer Brett Torino, who are planning to build a four-story retail complex across the street from Fertitta’s lot on the southwest corner of the Strip at Harmon. That property includes plans for restaurant chain Ocean Prime to invest about $20 million dollars into a new location.
I sure hope that famous quote from the film Field Of Dreamsholds true: “If you build it, they will come.”
