The operator is acquiring Helmicasino.com from an online casino partner that previously ran the site in Finland. The website operated under a different licence in the country but shut in early 2023 amid changes to payment conditions.

Spiffbet will now relaunch Helmicasino.com on a Malta licence and focus on the Finnish market. The operator says this relaunch is expected to entail significant additional costs beyond marketing.

It is hoped that the site could be live again in Finland early next month.

“We really thought it was a shame that Helmicasino.com was closed, but we understood at the same time that it was necessary as the conditions to continue operating on the existing license were no longer there,” Spiffbet CEO Henrik Svensson said.

“We are happy to offer the casino again to the market with better game selection and better payment options. Spiffbet as a company has brought down the cost level significantly since the beginning of 2022. Now we focus on increasing revenues.

“The launch of Supersnabbt.se and Helmicasino.com is a clear component of this. We started with the launch of Supersnabbt.se, which looks promising, and now we continue with Helmicasino.com in Finland.”

Spiffbet making progress with wider growth plans

The Supersnabbt.se launch referenced by Svensson took place last month. The website went live in Sweden, offering players a range of online casino games.

Supersnabbt.se is operating as a sister brand to Supernopea.com, a Spiffbet website already active in Finland. Spiffbet also operates Turbovegas in Sweden and Finland as well as Metal Casino in a number of markets. Helmicasino.com will soon join this brand portfolio.

As for wider business plans at Spiffbet, the operator in August sold its game development business to Million Games. The deal studio is worth up to SEK3.5m.

Spiffbet said the division has not contributed to its business for the past year. The segment has also been subject to a liquidation analysis.

The operator also said the sale reflects a shift in focus from game development to online casino operations. It will solely focus on running online casinos when the deal completes.
