Slot-Machine Maker Denies Bribery Claim in Manila Casino Fight
Japanese slot-machine maker Universal Entertainment Corp. on Friday denied allegations made in a Delaware court that one of its executives attempted to improperly influence a Filipino legislator amid a failed $2.6 billion merger of the Okada Manila casino resort with a blank-check company.
“UEC denies the allegations of bribery, corruption, or inappropriate conduct. There was no proof of it at trial,” an attorney for the company, Daniel Perry of Milbank LLP said Friday in post-trial arguments in Delaware’s Court of Chancery.
