Las Vegas’ top hospitality union is “cautiously optimistic” that agreements can be reached with casino owners to avert a strike before a Friday deadline, a senior official said.

“The fact that we’re here kind of in the eleventh hour is alarming,” Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer for Culinary Workers Union Local 226, told reporters Tuesday. “At the same time, we’ve seen some movement.”
