RUSSELL — The Kin Club of Russell’s Catch the Ace jackpot now exceeds a red hot $163,000. Yesterday’s weekly winner, Paul Villeneuve, collected a cool $8,114 — though the Ace proved ever elusive as he drew the Three of Clubs (envelope #31).
Villeneuve smiled when asked what he had planned for his winnings. “A new lawn tractor!” he beamed.
With the game still in play, the Club’s third Catch the Ace lottery has just surpassed over $250,000 in profits to be donated back to their community. Funds are now growing at over $20,000 per week and increasing. Breast Cancer Action, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Osgoode Senior Care Centre, Valoris Foundation, Russell Minor Hockey Association and Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation are all in line to benefit once the lottery has concluded.
Only 16 envelopes remain, and Catch the Ace ticket sales have set records with buyers from 185 communities across Ontario, according to organizers. At $5 each, tickers are available online at www.kinclubofrussell.ca/catch-the-ace as well as retail locations denoted at that link.
Due to the pandemic lockdown, the next several draws will not be held at Etienne Brule Brewery but privately. Next draw is Sunday, January 10th, 2021, and paper ticket sales close at all retail locations at noon or earlier Sunday before the draw. Online ticket sales close at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, January 2nd, 2021.
