Powerball jackpot climbs to $268 million

The jackpot for Saturday's Powerball drawing is now over a quarter of a billion dollars.

The winner could take home the jackpot as an annuity paying out $268 million over 29 yeas of take home $171.1 million in cash. 

"We're waiting on Saturday night to see if someone can bring this jackpot home to North Carolina," said Mark Michalko, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery.

This Powerball jackpot has been accumulating since Valentine's Day when a ticket sold in Connecticut won a $185.3 million jackpot.

Powerball tickets are $2 to buy. Tickets can be purchased online and with the NC Lottery app.

Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
