Rivers Casino was closed for several hours Friday after a cracked pipe led to a liquid spilling into a section of the gaming floor.

A spokesperson said a cracked refrigeration pipe leaked onto the gaming floor. Repairs were in the process of being made before the casino reopened at 8 p.m.

“It gives a whole other meaning to the Rivers Casino because that’s literally what it looks like, like a river of bubbles coming across the floor,” Samantha Brown said.

Rivers has not said what might have caused the pipe to crack.

Video from the gaming floor shows what appears to be green-colored liquid pouring from the ceiling, and pooling on the ground around multiple slot machines.

“It was just full of water. It was huge. It went all the way around. Half of the casino, just covered with water,” Nancy Amdrus said.

Witness said many people remained seated at their slots unphased.

“People weren’t panicking. They just kept looking and thinking, where did all this water come from,” Amdrus said.

Eventually, the area was evacuated.

A family holding a wedding rehearsal at the casino told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 they were able to move past the flooded areas to the top floor for their rehearsal.

As maintenance crews worked to pump the liquid out, “Trailer Park Ninjas” in the casino’s Drum Bar, was canceled. The band said it was due to an “unprecedented maintenance emergency.”

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 asked a Rivers Casino spokesperson what exactly that liquid was, what caused this leak, and if anyone was harmed in any way. The spokesperson said they would not be sharing any additional information Friday.
