There was a gas tank explosion at Florida Casino on Monday. Six people were injured, but none of them were life-threatening. Four of the six people treated at the hospital have been released. The casino opened its doors again from 8:30 pm on Tuesday.
A contractor was carrying out maintenance on the system behind a casino wall. When he tried to turn it back on, a line connecting the tank ruptured. Around 100 employees and guests were in the building at the time of the blast. The explosion knocked drywall debris from the second floor to the first.
Seminole Tribe of Florida signed a gaming compact with Governor Ron DeSantis earlier this year. Southwest Parimutuels is challenging the legality of that agreement. Florida was one of the states that missed out on launching its betting market in time for the beginning of NFL season. Now operators are preparing to go live on October 15.
