Picasso Paintings Auctioned Off by Las Vegas Casino Resort for $109 Million+ at a Sotheby’s Event
MGM Resorts has sold 11 Picasso Paintings from their collection at a Sotheby’s event on the Vegas Strip. The paintings fetched over $109 million.
The Sotheby's Auction on 23rd December 2021 was unusual for a number of reasons. It was the first time in history that S.A. hosted an evening auction in the United States that wasn't located in New York City. Olive Barker, the chairman of S,A, was acting as the auctioneer. Leonardo di Caprio was present at the event. The sale was held two days before Pablo Picasso's 140th birthday.
Ari Kastrati claims that 70% of MGM's profits are now generated from non-gambling ventures. Online casinos have grown in popularity in the last few years. This has led to a decline in MGM’s market share in gambling industry. In the UK, the convenience of being able to access casinos from anywhere has cut into the market shares of local, traditional casinos. Illegal casinos can also be found online. OnlineCasinos.co.uk reviews legitimate, UKGC registered, and licenced online casinos and they sort and update the list of best ones.
11 Picassos were auctioned off for more than $109 million (£72.63 million) at a Sotheby's event. The sale took place two days before Pablo Picasso's birthday. MGM is trying to create an experiential environment and image at the Mirage resort. Steve Wynn was accused of sexual misconduct and he lost his leadership position at his own company, Wynns Resorts. The rest of Steve's Picasses could be auction off in the coming months.
