Pennsylvania sees all-time high $462M gaming revenue in March driven by record online casinos, retail table games
As reported Monday by thePennsylvania Gaming Control Board, figures in March reached a new milestone, as the state recorded the highest gaming revenue achieved in a single month, with a combined total win of $462.7 million.
The before March 2022 was $432.4M in November 2021. The revenue was generated from all forms of gambling in the state, including slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports betting, fantasy contests and more.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National was the property that generated the most revenue with $63 million, representing a 11.44% increase from March 2021.
Statewide, retail slots revenue brought in the most revenue out of all the gaming categories taken into consideration for the final report, with $214.7 million. Pennsylvania had 26,107 slot machines operating in March, compared to 19,727 active last year.
The new record was driven by highs in both retail table games, which exceeded $90 million for the first time, and internet casino-type gaming, which surpassed $110 million.
Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of $118.1 million, compared to $97.6 in 2021. The March revenue was the highest to date, topping the previous record of $108.3 achieved in January 2022.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National was the highest grossing in this category, with total internet games revenue of $45 million, broken down into internet slots revenue of $28 million, internet table games revenue accounting for $16.2 million, and internet poker revenue of $285,039.
When it comes to sports wagering, March saw a total handle of $714.9 million, which is above the previous mark by 27.62%. The taxable revenue figure for the vertical in the state was $30.4 million, which also exceeded the previous year’s $29.3 mark.
Valley Forge Casino Resort saw $269 million in bets, and a total revenue of $15 million in sports betting in March topping the list, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, with $166.2 million in betting handle and $4.4 million in total revenue.
