Pennsylvania releases gambling results for September
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Tuesday released the full results from the gambling industry for the month of September. The results covered all forms of gambling along with fantasy contests, putting the total revenue generated at $48,475,624. This marked a 7.89% increase compared to a year before in September 2021.
The PGCB took into consideration a number of segments in conducting its assessment of the sector, and all regulated gambling activities in the Keystone State. Those include slotmachines, Internet gaming, fantasy contests, video gaming terminals, sports wagering, and table games. The biggest winner in terms of type of gaming revenue were retail slots, which reached $198,525,285, down -0.18% from the results in September 2021.
Next on the list were retail tables, which generated $81,620,804, once again down from the $84,089,528 generated in September 2021. The PGCBlisted iGaming slot revenue as the third biggest generator of revenue for the state at $77,891,494. This was up 13.61% from a year before. Meanwhile, sports wagering came in fourth with $50,216,969, a massive 77.74% increase from September 21, signaling an overall strong recovery for the state and its gambling businesses.
Next, there were the iGaming tables, which generated, $32,177,304 in revenue, or 22.15% up from the $26,343,260 posted back in September 2021. Video gaming terminals generated the unimpressive $3,496,670, and iGaming poker revenue contributed another $2,659,730, actually down by 9.06%.
In terms of properties which generated the most revenue, three propertiesmanaged to surpass the $50-million threshold. Those were Hollywood Casino at Penn National with $65,994,974, Parx Casino with $55,670,723, and Valley Forge Casino Resort with $53,055,424. Taking their results on a year-to-year basis, though, Parx Casino registered 2.61% decline in performance, whereas Valley Forge surged by 27.77%. Hollywood Casino managed to add 18.06%.
Other properties did well, with Wind Creek Bethlehem seeing its results go up by 2.55% to $4,803,011 and Rivers Casino Philadelphia adding another $44,623,138, but down 6.85% on year-over-year basis. The worst performers this month was the Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin which saw a 17.38% decrease in its overall results. Meanwhile, the biggest winner remained the Hollywood Casino at the meadows which saw revenue surge to $27,515,214, up 45.47% on year-over-year basis.
Pennsylvania continues to show strength and recovery and the Keystone State is unlikely to slow down in the coming months as it’s sports betting season. The results are much better than the February debacle as well.
