A new casino is coming to Cumberland County.The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said it voted unanimously Wednesday to award a license for a Category 4 casino in a former Lowe's in the Shippen Towne Center in Shippensburg Township.A Category 4 Slot Machine License allows between 300 and 750 slot machines. The license holder, Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, Inc, could also petition for up to 30 table games for an additional fee of $2.5 million, with the capability of adding an additional 10 table games after its first year of operation.According to information presented to the Gaming Control Board, Parx Casino Shippensburg will offer the following when it opens:500 slot machines.Electronic table games.A restaurant and sports bar facility.The casino expects to create 175 construction jobs.It's aiming for a late 2022 opening. When that happens, it's expected to have more than 125 full-time jobs.

According to information presented to the Gaming Control Board, Parx Casino Shippensburg will offer the following when it opens:

  • 500 slot machines.
  • Electronic table games.
  • A restaurant and sports bar facility.

The casino expects to create 175 construction jobs.

It's aiming for a late 2022 opening. When that happens, it's expected to have more than 125 full-time jobs.
