Pa. gaming company begins $206M expansion at Las Vegas-area casino
Berks County-based Penn Entertainment has 43 casinos across the county but only one in the Las Vegas area – M Resort Spa Casino.
The gaming company is expanding the casino, which is located on the southeast corner of St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard in Henderson, Nevada by building a second tower at the casino. Penn Entertainment was previously known as Penn National Gaming.
“We can’t wait to begin construction on a second hotel tower at M Resort,” Jay Snowden, CEO and President of Penn Entertainment, said in a news release. “This new addition will benefit from the strong demand of the Henderson locals market while providing much needed additional room capacity for group business that is drawn to our market-leading resort and amenities, including our highly successful partnership with the Las Vegas Raiders.”
The project, with an estimated budget of $206 million, is expected to add 384 rooms to the company’s property south of the Las Vegas Strip, bringing its total to 774 rooms and suites. Along with the rooms, there will be expanded meetings space and updated amenities.
M Resort has more than 92,000 square feet of gaming, eleven restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness center and a 100,000 square foot pool and events piazza.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in December.
Penn Entertainment has casinos in the Grantville, Reading and York areas. Penn Entertainment’s loyalty program, Penn Play, is in operation at all of the company’s casinos including M Resort.
