Tammy Harden was on a break at work and decided to use her cellphone to play the MegaJackpots Cleopatra game on playnow.com, BC Lottery Corporation’s online gambling website.
To her surprise, a spin led to winning $503,116.45.
Disbelieving the dollar numbers on her phone screen, Harden contacted playnow.com to verify the win before getting too excited. When BCLC confirmed, Harden was so stunned by her incredible win that she decided to take the rest of the afternoon off.
The first person she shared the news with was her daughter. “She didn’t believe me and, when I showed her, she used a bad word,” Harden said. “My son cried and said it’s going to change my life.”
When asked how this win would make a difference in her life, Harden replied, “No more rent!”
Beyond setting some money aside for a new house, Harden will share some of her winnings with the people around her and take some time to consider plans for the rest. For now, she’s taking her sisters on a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate her life-changing win.
“It’s unreal, it’s amazing,” Harden. “It’s just a really happy feeling!”
