Online lottery ticket firm Jackpot gets funding from top sports execs
Jackpot announced Wednesday that it closed on $35 million in series A funding. The money will enable the company to roll out its website and app later this year in select locations where online lottery ticket sales are allowed. NBA superstars James Harden, Joel Embiid and Martin Brodeur are some of the big name investors. In 2021, 53% of Americans bought lottery tickets but only about 5% were purchased online. Jackpot will make its money by charging a convenience fee on purchases. It's currently working with local regulators in 12 states for clearance to launch the service.
