OLG Warns about Expiring Lotto Max Windfall
Wild Casino

Just recently, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation issued a press release to remind that there is still an unclaimed Lotto Max prize in the province. The windfall in question is worth more than CA$373k and it is set to expire if not claimed. This one dates back to the April 1, 2022 drawing of the nationwide game and its winner resides somewhere in Scarborough.

Lotto Max is a popular draw-based game across the country, with hefty payouts and two draws every week. Its main jackpot could climb up to the amazing CA$70,000,000. There are also Maxmillion prizes up for grabs, but they are in the running only after the main prize crosses the CA$50 million mark. Each of those Maxmillions is worth a cool CA$1 million.

Time is Running Short

In its latest press, the OLG warned the ticket from the April 1, 2022 draw will soon expire and its holder is yet to emerge to claim it. It also repeated that each lottery prize in the province has a 52-week expiry date from the date on the ticket. The prize is worth CA$373,118.20 and it belongs to someone from the Scarborough region.

The Crown corporation advises everyone who participated in the said draw last year to check their tickets or look for them. According to the OLG, the winning numbers of the ticket were 07, 10, 18, 29, 38, 43, 50, and 41 as the Bonus number. If found, the winner is urged to sign the ticket, fill in the back portion and contact the Crown in a timely manner.

Additionally, OLG stated that if a customer has a legitimate reason for coming forward shortly after the expiration date, then it would do its due diligence on the claim as part of the prize claim review process. But the Crown has an expiry date on tickets bought via lottery terminals as the lottery regulator has to account for that money and cannot wait indefinitely.

And if the winner in question fails to meet the 52-week deadline, then their prize money, as all other unclaimed windfalls in Lotto Max, will be added to future bonus games or promotions. The OLG advises everyone to double-check their tickets for last year’s draw. Tickets can be checked via the official OLG Lotto App, lottery retailers, or online on OLG.ca.

Ontario’s Big Winners

Lotto Max has been quite generous to Ontarian players over the last few years, as some significant windfalls have been claimed. One of the province’s big winners is 83-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Vera Page from Vankleek Hill. Last November, she claimed a jackpot worth CA$60 million via the November 1, 2022 draw.

Meanwhile, a more recent win was recorded in Markham by Lai Ching Yau who works as a caregiver. She also won a life-changing CA$60 million by playing Lotto Max but this time in January 17, 2023 draw. Some of her first ideas of spending the money would be to go on a holiday and buy a new property.
