A huge £7.4million Lotto jackpot that has laid unclaimed for six months is set to expire today unless claimed.

The huge sum was bought in the Wolverhampton area with the winning numbers 11, 14, 36, 39, 42, 59 and the bonus 21, but noone has claimed the prize since the figures were drawn on June 18.

If a valid claim is not received within 180 days of the draw date, the prize and any interest earned on it will go to benefit National Lottery Projects across the UK.

Any unclaimed prizes six months past the draw date will be automatically removed from the National Lottery's unclaimed list.

In September Andy Carter, The National Lottery's senior winners' advisor said: “We’re also still searching for a missing £7.4m Lotto jackpot winner from the draw on 18 June 2022.

"The missing winner bought their ticket in Wolverhampton.

"And we’re renewing our appeal for Lotto players in the area to check their tickets to be in with a chance of claiming another incredible Lotto jackpot prize."

In an update from Camelot, operators of the National Lottery, it said a claim had been made for the jackpot prize money.

But it appears it may have failed validation as the amount still appears on the unclaimed list - which was updated just days ago - on the National Lottery website.

As with all major prizes of £50,000 and over bought in retail around two weeks after the draw, if no valid claim has been received, the area in where the ticket was bought is released.

It is revealed by Camelot’s security team and is designed to encourage tickets to be checked but also to enable the ticket-holders to remain anonymous if they wish.

"I’ve come across winners who’ve not just kept it in wallets or bags but in an Ant and Dec autobiography and one winner even hid it in her bra for safekeeping," Andy Carter said.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk
