Ohio Lottery investigates 'cybersecurity incident' impacting website, prize cashing
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Ohio Lottery is still dealing with issues after a "cybersecurity incident" on Christmas Eve.
According to a statement, the incident impacted several of its internal applications. The agency immediately began working on fixes to help mitigate the issue, saying that the "integrity of our games is the top priority of the lottery."
While the gaming system is still fully operation, there are issues with both mobile cashing and cashing in prizes above $599 at Super Retailers, both of those features are unavailable as a result of the incident.
The Ohio Lottery will notify the public once these features have returned, but in the mean time, prize claims can still be mailed in to the Ohio Lottery Central Office. To learn more about how to do this,
Certain winning numbers are also unavailable as a result of the attack, these include the winning numbers for KENO, Lucky One, and EZPLAY Progressive Jackpots. These numbers aren't available on the website or mobile app, but can still be checked at any Ohio Lottery retailer.
A state internal investigation is looking into what or who is behind the attack.
