Mum proudly shows lottery ticket winnings
We all dream of the moment we realise we're holding a winning scratchcard/lottery ticket.
Even winning a fiver counts, although we wouldn't say no to a big jackpot.
One mum decided to treat herself to a £5 scratchcard while celebrating her birthday last week.
And it turns out that was a great decision, as mum Noosha from Billingham, won a tasty £125...or so she thought.
Writing on group Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas, she shared her joy at the unexpected win, along with a photo of her scratchcard.
She wrote: "Scratched first bonus...£15. Scratched 2nd bonus £100. Scratched diamond £10."
So in total, she believed she'd won £125.
But after she shared the photo with her friends and family, Noosha's brother called her up with some good news.
He told her to look at the bottom of the scratchcard - which included some rather important information.
As outlined in the key, scratching a diamond means players "win ALL the prizes shown," so the mum had actually won the jackpot.
Noosha added: "My brother told me the diamond means I've won the jackpot!! £500 better off."
The post racked up thousands of likes and left other members in hysterics at her initial error.
One joked: "I wish he hadn’t phoned you….. just so you could get to the store and be handed a lot more cash than you expected.
"I thought I was picking up £20 off a ‘scrabble’ card a while ago and didn’t realise I’d missed a letter which took my winnings to £120! It was the best feeling!"
Another added: "Well done you. I recently swapped £2 win for 2 £1 cards and won £60. We've put it to one side for a day out."
"And there was me chuffed with my £12 win yesterday!" joked another.
Sharing their own lottery horror story, one woman wrote: "I remember when my brother in law bought me a scratch card for my birthday….. scratched it - won £20000!!!!! Couldn’t believe it… then my sister told me it was a fake one…. Never have liked him tbf."
